A Love That Feels Like Home

A love affair imparts adventure, not merely because it is unsanctioned and risky, but because it proceeds on part-knowledge, like all creative endeavor. And it is risked because the longing to find home is one of the sharpest hungers a human can know. For this a man gives up an empire and sails the open sea….
. . .

Part of falling in love is the heady blend of familiarity and strangeness. Here is someone at once so like you that you have come home, and yet so different they open a thousand windows to the universe. Love needs both aspects to endure.
. . .

From Jack and Everleigh:
“We were searching for each other long before we met…and once we did we were so mutually taken by each other, so instantly smitten and allied, that from that moment forward nothing was ever so precious to us as one another. And feeling that we had spent enough of our lifetime apart, there was no time to lose. A thousand roads and a thousand seas had been travelled to stand at this moment, this threshold, this love, this home.”

I love the title for your love story….I’m curious, is that the estimation of miles travelled to date in your life or in your recent move? I really enjoyed your post this morning – I can relate! I have had a hunger for finding my home and I recently discovered it within myself. I can live anywhere from this moment forward because I found my one true love ~ Me. Now, I can really open my heart to love someone, fully, completely, confidently for the first time in my life. Life is full and I find comfort, joy and hope in your notes. xo

Hi Helen, I used my birth year to represent the miles between Jack and Everleigh…. for me this symbol of time juxtaposed as a marker for miles felt meaningful. I’m so pleased to hear you found love and home in your own heart…what a sweet and sacred space! xo
