What Is the Life You Really Want?

This is #5 in the series: 5 Daily Questions
Why are the 5 daily questions important? I wrote about that here.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

About every 3 months I sit down with several clean sheets of paper and I re-write the big, beautiful, gorgeous life I am in action to create. Sometimes I sit down to write this and I feel that the last version I wrote is still accurate. I want to be lazy; I want to cop out. But I discipline myself to sit down and write it all again.

And wouldn’t you know, there ARE some things that have changed. There ARE new elements to weave into my picture.

As a side note, I’ve observed this visualizing goes particularly well if I have been consistently, faithfully doing my work every day since the last time I wrote the list. If I have been rising at 5:30 a.m., writing and publishing every day, exercising, managing my finances well, and resisting drama, when I sit down to write I have built a trust with myself that makes the dreaming flow.

I never lose sight of the life I really want. Never.

I spend about two hours writing the picture. Then I will take sound bites and bullet point them on note cards. I will refer to these often over the next few months. I now have a very vivid picture of what I want for my life and the daily practice of the 5 Questions helps me get there.

Right after What Will Make Me Feel Proud?, What Will Make Me Feel Secure?, and What Work Needs To Be Done Today?, I ask

Question 4. What Is the Life I Really Want?

This is where I hold a picture in my mind of what I am creating and I list one action I can take on that day to move toward it. This is my ‘big picture’ baby step.

I have started focusing less on ‘getting somewhere,’ and have shifted my awareness to simply closing the vibrational gap between where I am now and my goal. I practice being content with things as they are, but I know the quickest way to close the gap is to become a vibrational match for it…even before taking action.

I get aligned. Then I take action.

For example: Yesterday’s action step was to investigate different virtual assistants because I will be hiring an assistant in the next year. (supporting my vision for peace)

Today’s action step is to investigate Ing Direct. I want to open an account to save for a big ticket item I am going to be purchasing in the coming months. (supporting my vision for financial ease)

Monday’s is to construct and write an offering I am bringing to market next week: a customized Life Alignment Program, designed for late bloomers. (supporting my vision for contribution)

What is the life YOU really want? Are you willing to take one small action for it each day?

Love + Rockets,

    Hello Gorgeous!

I loved your 5 questions! I found for me, that I needed to write in great length, so I took one question a day and wrote. So much came up for me, and it felt so good! It was like cleaning out your makeup drawer! You know that thing we girls hate to do but NEED to. I am on “What work needs to be done so I can feel peaceful? Well, I ended up cleaning out that makeup drawer and I have to tell you that it brought forward many tasks that I have been avoiding either by fear, laziness or put off till tomorrow.

Thank you for being you and sharing your magic and gifts with us!

You are a BIG OLE BLESSING……

    Much love….

Heather – thank you so much!! I’m truly impressed that you took a question a day and fully explored it. That is wonderful!

Cleaning out the make-up drawer fells so good…I agree :)

I too am getting a great deal from these posts – thank you so much for providing a space for me to stop and reflect on what it is that I’m trying to do. Your “Six Big Things” is something I’m really trying to embrace, and trying to link those things DAILY to my vision is a new way to look at it. It’s so easy to lose the vision in the minutea of what seems like it “must” be done!

You said, “As a side note, I’ve observed this visualizing goes particularly well if I have been consistently, faithfully doing my work every day since the last time I wrote the list,” and I think that this deserves more than a side note. The easy work, in my opinion, is crafting the vision – I want to go to Tuscany! look like a supermodel! become a gajillionaire! save the world! – and the hard work is sitting down to craft a life that gets me toward those goals, one day at a time. (And then some alignment comes into play: I don’t want to be a supermodel, I want to be my best self, and that means get rid of the jelly belly, and I can do that by running….) Figuring out how to keep goals top of mind, and to be single minded about them, in a world that says “No, pay attention to ME! Do this! And this! And this!” repeatedly a zillion times a day to distract me from my true missions, well, THAT is my big challenge.

I know you will have some light to shine on this dilemma, as I’m sure it doesn’t belong only to me. While I wish desperately to work on my creative endeavors, to be an incredible mother, to get my financial house in order, to care for my health, to help my relationships to flourish, to take time for nature and beauty, to give generously of my time and resources to causes I believe in……and to do it all while keeping my house in order, my car running, making sure my daughter’s homework is done every night, returning phone calls and email, getting the yardwork done, participating in my active UU church community……sometimes it seems like the minutea can take over.

I’m working on it – I signed up for a half marathon and I’m working towards it. I’m carving out time for nature. I’m poised to take a giant leap into work. But it is such a struggle!

Any light you can shed on this “side note” is most appreciated. I’m trying to break it down into pieces, instead of the big overwhelming chunks, and I can use all the help I can get.

Thank you for this wonderful resource, and for sharing your light.

Stephanie! I just subscribed to your blog and I have been getting your 5 daily question series in my inbox. I am in love with these posts and I am finding them so inspiring, You have such an amazing way of approaching everything you do, and I really admire it.

I am a crazy to do list person, and I kind of love it. I can start the day with an A4 page full of tasks and have it completed by the end of the day. Yet there is always one thing I lose in the process – MY PEACE! I love that in the ‘what work needs to be done today’ post you say that everything must pass the peace test. I really want to take that on board this year.

I am also wanting to work more on my vibrational alignment before taking action, and I love that you touch on this here!!!

Thank you so much for a simply brilliant post.

Connie – you are so welcome! I, too, lose my peace sometimes…I just notice it when it’s happening and return to center. It’s a practice.
I’m so glad you are enjoying the series. The last post is going to be about setting intentions and aligning with the vibe…I think you’ll dig it.
Sending you much peace and love…xo, Steph
